Abstract (en)

[origin: WO9004257A1] The invention relates to a device for the protection of electric power resistances, particularly grounding resistances assembled in batteries (2) by using conventional means such as rods, insulating guns and isolators inside a parallelipipedic metal casing (1), dust-tight and water jet-tight and containing nothing but air for the cooling of said resistances. The device is formed by four side panels (3), a bottom panel (5) and a top panel (4) which are assembled by fixing screws (9) and are provided with seals (10) in all assembly areas so that the electric continuity between two parts (3, 4, 5) is achieved through the fixing screws (9), despite any possible loosening, the device being characterized in that between two metal parts to be assembled (3, 4, 5), at right angle to the passages (8) of the fixing screws (9), is interleaved a compression element (12) which produces on the opposite faces a force (F) higher than the rigidity of said parts (3, 4, 5), the compression element being housed in the thickness of an appropriate cut-out (11) for the seal (10) providing for the contact tightness between the parts (3, 4, 5) without limiting the efficiency. Furthermore, the device is characterized in that the sealed housing (1) is provided with an anti-overpressure system such as a discharge valve or any other equivalent means, thereby limiting the risks of deformation of said housing (1), which, otherwise, would create sealing defects and even the breaking of the isolators.
