[origin: WO8912152A1] A parking system for automatic parking of vehicles comprises at least two superimposed parking levels (P1, P2) which can be serviced by hoisting gears (20-23). Each parking level has parking lines (Z1-Z12) and parking rows (RA-RK) perpendicular thereto in which horizontal displacement of the motor vehicles (40) onto pallets (41) is computer controlled. The parking lines (Z1-Z12) are parallel in the x-direction and the parking rows (RA-RK) perpendicular in the y-direction to the entry region (EZ) and to an exit region (AZ). A hoisting gear (20, 21) for each parking row (RA-RK) is provided in the entry line (Z3) and in the exit line (Z10). The pallets of all rows can be moved in the parking level (P1) containing the entry region (EZ) and the exit region (AZ) in the direction (x) of all rows and in at least one line (Z9) in the direction (y) perpendicular thereto.
