[origin: EP0364994A1] A single-channel, stored-program control system (1) is disclosed for controlling slewing cranes. Motion and/or load-limiting data for a hoisting gear (7) and motion-limiting data for a boom drive (11) are stored in a memory (5). Measurement sensors (13, 17) that generate measurement signals proportional to the motion or load are connected with the hoisting gear (7) and boom drive (11). The stored-program control (1) controls the hoisting gear (7) and the boom drive (11) depending on the stored limiting values and the measurement signals from the measurement sensors (13, 17). Finally, means (45) for cyclically self-testing the stored-program control (1) are disclosed. This crane control system requires relatively little equipment and is very fail-safe.
