Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0394671A2] A method for operating a ring spinning machine with the use of a service robot (68) patrolling along a row of spinning stations (16) is characterised in that the service robot in a first movement along the row of spinning stations stores the spinning stations at which there is a yarn break, and in that only in a further, preferably the next movement along this row does the service robot attempt to rectify the yarn breaks previously ascertained and, after this attempt, checks whether it was successful, and if this is not so it classifies the yarn break as not repairable by it and indicates or signals this fact to the attendance personnel. Only in the event of a failure in the rectification of a yarn break is the roving stop device (52) provided at the respective spinning station actuated. A special spindle- brakeing device is also described. <IMAGE>
