[origin: EP0394890A2] In the comminuting machine, a movable cutter (9) is movable by means of a lifting and lowering device (10) at least approximately parallel to a stationary cutter (11) and is subjected to a force directed oppositely to the cutting pressure. Only one drive is required for the cutter (9), as a result of which the machine is constructed in a structurally simple and inexpensive manner. As a result of the cutters (9 and 11) being movable at low speed parallel to one another, the noise and dust emission is extremely small. The cutting pressure necessary for the cutting operation is applied by the lifting and lowering device (10).
