[origin: EP0395794A2] A liquid crystal display has, behind a panel (1) of polymethylmethacrylate, a plurality of mutually independent liquid crystal cells (4) for forming a plurality of display fields. Between each liquid crystal cell (4) and the panel (1) there is in each case a narrow air gap (5), so that Newton's rings are avoided.
