Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0395915A2] The working cylinder without piston rod is designed as a band cylinder, the band (3) in the cylinder covers (8) passing through a location chamber (10) for a sealing member and a guide member. The sealing member consists of a strip-like sealing element of elastic material on either side of the band, which sealing element can be designed as a lip seal on the piston side. The sealing elements (12, 13) are inserted into the location chamber (10) with elastic tensioning towards the band (3). The guide member arranged remote from the piston relative to the sealing member has a web-like guide element (23, 24) on either side of the band (3), which guide element (23, 24) is likewise pressed elastically against the band (3) by the tensioning of the sealing elements (12, 13). By means of stop surfaces (28), the guide elements (23, 24) end with a clearance gap (29) in front of the wall (15) of the location chamber (10). The result of this is that the band (3) can be elastically deflected from its desired position only by the clearance gap (29), positive-locking support of the guide elements (23, 24) on the cylinder cover (8) is then effected, and thus no further band deflection is possible. <IMAGE>
