Un dispositif d'échange d'essieux (1) sur des véhicules sur rails comprend un cadre porteur (8) déplaçable en tous sens au moyen d'un mécanisme de déplacement hydraulique (4) et/ou à coussin d'air (5) sur un plan de déplacement (6) situé sous la voie surélevée de support du véhicule sur rails. Un mécanisme de levage (9) composé d'une plate-forme (19), d'un vérin télescopique (18) et d'un système à parallélogramme articulé sert à lever et à abaisser l'essieu (1).
