The pipe-gripping device is provided with a removable cross-head (14) mounted on a casing (2) and provided with a centering sleeve (15) mounted coaxially in the rotor (1) so as to co-operate with wedges (9), and a housing (16) for the boring bit, located coaxially to the centering sleeve (15) at the opposite side of the latter. In the casing (2) are mounted split inserts (4) co-operating with the wedges (9) movable in the direction of the axis of the rotor, and a bushing (5) provided with protrusions on its upper part. The split inserts (4) are located under each wedge (9) between the protrusions (23).

Le dispositif décrit comporte une traverse amovible (14) montée sur une structure (2) et pourvue d'un manchon de centrage (15) moné coaxialement dans le rotor (1) de manière à coopérer avec des coins (9), et un logement (16) recevant le trépan de forage, situé coaxialement au manchon de centrage (15) du côté opposé de ce dernier. Dans la structure (2) sont montées des garnitures fendues (4) coopérant avec les coins (9) mobiles dans le sens de l'axe du rotor, ainsi qu'une douille (5) dotée de saillies sur sa partie supérieure. Les garnitures fendues (4) sont situées sous chaque coin (9) entre les saillies (23).
