[origin: EP0396897A2] This crushing roller intended for use especially in a material bed roller mill, contains a base body and a roller casing composed of individual tightly clamped segments, a plurality of approximately transversely extending and radially aligned metal plates of a relatively soft material being cast into each segment which is manufactured largely from chilled cast iron. The result, a surface profile of the roll casing which remains approximately the same during the service life of the segments, with improved crushing material drawing-in behaviour, is obtained in a simple manner.
