Nach der Erfindung wird der thermische Wirkungsgrad eines Schachtofens zum schmelzen eines metallenen Einsatzes, insbesondere eines Kupolofens durch Zugabe überhitzten Windes in einer ersten Ebene, Zugabe einer ergänzenden Windmenge in einer mittleren Ebene und Kaltwindzugabe in einer dritten Ebene erheblich verbessert.
