Abstract (en)

The invention relates to the control of the temperature in a tunnel furnace comprising heating or cooling means disposed along its two lateral walls between which the conveyed articles pass. According to the invention, the temperature prevailing in a particular zone of the tunnel furnace, where a predetermined temperature is desired, is sensed, and the transverse displacement of the heating or cooling means (104) perpendicular to the conveying direction of the articles (103) is organised with the aid of a control mechanism acting so that these means are moved automatically, in terms of moving together or moving apart, when the sensed temperature deviates from the said predetermined temperature; this has the effect of permanently providing, for the article or articles concerned, a constant temperature environment in this zone of the tunnel furnace. <??>Application especially to the shrinking of a heat-shrinkable sleeve for the decoration and/or the protection of flasks and to the cooling of glass containers. <IMAGE>
