Abstract (en)
[origin: WO9006200A1] A method for making dispersed metal powders includes treating solid hydrates of metal mineral salts with alkaline solutions of a concentration equal to 6-15 mol/l at a 1.5 to 2-fold excess of alkali contained in that solution in relation to its quantity stoichiometrically required for obtaining the hydroxide. The obtained metal hydroxides are filtered, dried and reduced by hydrogen. The reduction is effected at a temperature 200 to 300C higher than that at the start of reduction of hydroxides of the corresponding metals at a hydrogen consumption of 2.5 to 6m?3/mol Mexh on the basis of the initial salt. After reduction, the obtained powders are passivated with an inert gas.
