[origin: EP0398844A2] The moving electrode of the switching device consists of a flexible contact fabric (1), which can be compressed, having conductive and non-conductive wires (2, 3). The conductive wires (2) extend in the one fabric direction and run at least approximately in a plane. In contrast, the non-conductive wires (3), which extend in the other fabric direction, are bent around the conductive wires (2) so that they hold the conductive wires (2) at a distance from a flat electrode (4) which rests on the contact fabric (1). By compressing the contact fabric (1), the conductive wires (2) are deformed in a flexible elastic manner, the backs of the waves produced thereon being passed onto the fabric surface and hence making contact with the flat electrode (4). <??>Such a switching device is distinguished by a simple construction and a small structural height. <IMAGE>
