[origin: EP0399322A2] The shaft (14) is mounted so as to be swivellable on the bearing part (12) of the stitching head (10). Seated so as not to rotate on said shaft is the ram (18) which can be swivelled through 180 DEG in the clockwise direction from the staple setting position (18') shown in the figure to receive a wire portion from a wire portion dispenser. The wire portion received by the ram (18) is formed on a block into a staple (28), the lateral arms (28") of which are guided in grooves of the ram arms (20). In the staple setting position (18'), the staple (28') is ejected from the ram (18) by means of the ejector (54). <IMAGE>
