[origin: EP0400521A1] The tapping socket enables an electrical device (30) to be placed in series with a cable (1) having two wires (2, 3), a drain (4), and a metal sheath (5) covered with an insulating sheath (60). <??>The insulating (60) and metal (5) sheaths being stripped over a length L, the drain (4) and the wires (2, 3) are positioned longitudinally on a support (50) provided with insulating-shearing contact pieces (6, 7, 8, 9) for fixing and tapping the wires (2, 3) to a branch cable (20). A cutting device (10) sliding in a housing of the support (50) cuts each wire (2, 3) between two contact pieces. <IMAGE>
