[origin: EP0400598A1] A method for packing compressed napkins proposes that a stack of napkins be compressed by pressing the short ends of the first and last napkin in each case and the stack of compressed napkins then be inserted laterally into a packaging bag, in the compressed state. Decompression of the compressed stack within the bag is then prevented by the latter. A device contains a compressing station in which the compression is carried out. The compressed stack is then pushed by means of a pusher into a transport device which pushes the stack on into the bag. <IMAGE>
