Abstract (en)

This device comprises an ingot mould for continuous casting of thin products, whose walls define a casting space 6 whose cross-section, at the point of exit of the product cast from the said ingot mould, is lengthened in a direction corresponding to the width of the cast product and has a length equal to the said width of the product. It comprises a horizontal tubular spout 9 in communication with at least one inlet nozzle for the metal 8, which extends along the said direction and comprises one or more orifices 11, 18 for exit of the molten metal which are located in its lower portion and according to a configuration such that the orifice or orifices extend over the length of the spout. The said spout is located at the level provided for the meniscus of the metal 14 in the said ingot mould and, in accordance with the method according to the invention, the level of the molten metal is adjusted, during the casting, in order that the spout is partially immersed in the said metal. <IMAGE>
