Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0401162A1] Two lap webs (I, II) lying one on the other are respectively fed continuously to the combing tools (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) in a plurality of combing heads of the machine. The first lap web (I) comes from a first lap roll (7) carried on a rear supporting device (8, 9) and runs over a front supporting device (11, 12). This carries a second lap roll (10), from which the second lap web (II) comes. A detector determines when the end of the lap web (I) runs off from the first lap roll (7) in one of the combing heads. A control device then executes a roll change simultaneously for a plurality of combing heads as follows: the end of the first lap web (I) is severed to the same length in all the combing heads. The severed lap-web remains and the winding tubes of the first lap rolls (7) are removed. The second lap rolls (10) are rolled onto the rear supporting devices (8, 9). New lap rolls (24) are so deposited onto the front supporting devices (11, 12) that the start (A) of the lap web of these rolls (24) is aligned with the end of the first lap web (I). The roll change can thus be carried out fully automatically and without the combing machine being stopped. <IMAGE>
