[origin: EP0401399A1] The invention relates to a method for feeding oil into the suction chamber of the high-vacuum stage (2) of a two-stage or multiple-stage high vacuum pump (1); in order to obtain a precise oil supply as a function of operating conditions, it is proposed that there should be a constant oil supply which is adequate for operation of the high-vacuum stage (2) in the output pressure range, and that additional oil be admitted into the suction chamber when the difference in the pressures in the intake area (4) and in the outlet area (6) of the high-vacuum stage (2) exceeds a specific value; the invention relates furthermore to a device for implementing the method, which comprises a diaphragm (35) as a control element for the supply of oil. <IMAGE>
