Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0401423A1] A web of foldable material, preferably of paper or cardboard is used for the continuous packaging of a product, preferably a liquid. The web has parallel, spaced-apart longitudinal edges (31, 32). In addition to four continuous longitudinal folds (4) extending parallel to the longitudinal edges (31, 32), continuous first transverse folds (6, 7, 8), each arranged with the same mutual spacing and extending perpendicular to the longitudinal edges (31, 32), and continuous second transverse folds (71, 8), extending parallel to said first transverse folds are provided, so that there are four rectangles adjoining one another in the transverse direction and a rectangular closure strip adjoining said rectangles. One rectangle and the next but one rectangle and the rectangular closure strip each have a third transverse fold (15, 10), which transverse folds extend parallel to the first transverse fold (6, 7, 8) and at the same distance therefrom, and they each have a fourth transverse fold (33, 10), which transverse folds extend parallel to the second transverse fold (71, 8) and with the same spacing as the third from the first transverse fold. The other two rectangles each have a central longitudinal fold (13), which is arranged in the centre from all sides and is shorter than the spacing between the third and fourth transverse folds, and they each have four diagonal folds (11) which extend from the two ends of the central longitudinal fold (13) in each case to the two nearest corners of the rectangles, and they each have four oblique folds (12) which extend from the two ends of the central longitudinal fold (13) in each case to the nearest intersection of the third and fourth transverse folds with the longitudinal folds (4) in the other rectangles or the closure strip. <IMAGE>
