Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0401918A2] The invention relates to clamping jaws for a nail making machine. At one end, at the end face, the elongate prism-shaped basic body -1- of the clamping jaws has a recess for a wear-resistant, preferably cube-shaped insert -2- consisting of hard alloy. Machined into the outer surface of the insert -2- there is in each case one clamping groove -5-, which are brought into use one after the other by turning the insert around. To clamp the insert, the basic body has a slot -3- in the longitudinal direction, forming two resilient portions which can be clamped relative to one another by a clamping screw -4-. The slot is arranged eccentrically and passes through the recess for the insert -2- but not the hemispherical recess -6- which serves for wire feeding, is machined into the basic body and opens into the clamping groove -5-. In this way, problems in wire feeding are avoided. <IMAGE>
