Abstract (en)
The invention allows the remote gripping and releasing of cylindrical barrels, for the purpose of taking them into storage areas with difficult access. It comprises at least two clamping assemblies each formed from an external jaw (10) and an internal jaw (20) sliding with respect to each other horizontally in order to grip the rim (4) of the barrel (2). Their respective movements are controlled by the raising and the lowering of a jack (14) by means of a connecting-rod assembly (12). The rod (16) of the jack (14) has a stop piece (22) preventing any untimely closure of the device when it is in the open position. Locking in the open position is provided pneumatically, the unlocking being provided by way of a spring (34) placed inside the rod (16).
