[origin: WO9006715A1] The invention concerns a toilet seat with a protective overlay, in which at least the seating surface of the toilet seat is covered by the protective overlay, the protective overlays being stored in a compartment above the level of the toilet bowl. Operation of the toilet is fully automatic, the seat being covered automatically with the protective overlay and swung down automatically from the raised position to the lowered position. On completion of use, flushing is initiated, the protective overlay removed from the seat and the seat swung back up into the raised position. The seat is operated by a lifting/lowering mechanism which can be actuated at will. With the seat in the raised position, a gripping device is actuated which takes a protective overlay from the storage compartment and fixes it to the seat. With the seat lowered, when the load on the seat is removed, the flushing mechanism is set in action, removing the protective overlay. Also described is the constructional design of a hydraulic mechanism for raising and lowering the toilet seat using the pressure of the house water supply.
