[origin: WO9006813A1] The barrel of the installation comprises a detonation initiating unit (1) connected to a detonation chamber (2) in which is mounted an accelerator (3) of the transition from burning to detonation, consisting of a three-dimensional grid located coaxially in the chamber (2). The dimension of each grid cell (4) is essentially equal to that of a stationary detonation wave cell in an explosive mixture of a given composition. The number of grid cells (4) in a cross-section of the detonation chamber (2) increases towards the open end of the barrel, so as to form through channels (5) for the passage of the gases from the detonation initiating unit (1) to the detonation chamber (2). The peripheral channels (5) of the grid are oriented at a sharp angle ($g(a)) to the axis of the barrel.
