[origin: EP0402824A2] In a mask-frame combination (10) for a colour picture tube, a mask (12) is connected to a frame (11) via welded points (15.2 to 15.4, 15.6, 15.8 to 15.10, 15.12) which are arranged in the corners and adjacent to the long centre axis (16.1) and to the short centre axis (16.k). It is of significance that all the welded points are constructed as double welded points instead of single welded points, as was normal until now. The individual welded points of each double welded point are located essentially at the same height of the mask skirt but are slightly separated from one another. It has been found that the use of welded points which are duplicated in such a manner leads to considerably better shock and vibration strength than the use of the conventional single welded points. At the same time, thermal expansion characteristics are improved. <IMAGE>
