A method of producing a display tube having a magnetic shield 19 comprising two complementary parts 15 and 16. The two parts and 16 are first positioned facing one another at a mutual distance d and are interconnected by means of elements 35 of a non-magnetic material. Thereafter the dual magnetic shield 19 is fitted in the display tube.
