[origin: EP0403435A1] The manual apparatus has a calliper (11) with a probe edge (11a) which is fixedly connected to a housing part (1b). The calliper (11) is arranged on a probe body (8) which accommodates a ball bearing (9) for a peripheral milling cutter (10). This peripheral milling cutter (10) extends through a recess (11c), having the shape of an arc of a circle, in the calliper (11). To grind the ski edge (13), the calliper (11) is to be placed against the side surface thereof. The precise guidance of the peripheral milling cutter (10) during the movement of the manual apparatus in the longitudinal direction of the ski edge (13) permits exact machining of the edges (13) of the skis, even in non-linear areas. <IMAGE>
