Since typewriters are nowadays also frequently used as printout equipment for computers, it is desirable to be able to transmit colour pictures in the form of graphics or patterns using typewriters too. However, the previously proposed multi-colour recording equipment is very expensive, has a large space requirement and is therefore less suitable for use in conjunction with a personal computer. According to the invention, a typewriter or office machine of a similar design has now been provided, in which an ink ribbon cassette or an XY-recording mechanism, fitted with coloured printing pins (95), can be placed optionally on the receiving device (19) of the type carrier (4). The printing pins (95) of said XY-recording mechanism are brought by the ink ribbon transport device and by a drive device from the position of rest into the operating position in contact with the recording carrier. By this means, it is thus possible to generate both characters and colour pictures by simple exchange of the ink ribbon cassette and the daisy wheel for the recording mechanism (85) with coloured printing pins (95). By this means, a simple typewriter can be converted to a plotter with few manipulations. <IMAGE>

Da die Schreibmaschinen heutzutage auch vielfach als Ausgabegeräte für Computer eingesetzt werden, ist es wünschenswert, daß hierüber auch farbige Bilder in Form von Grafiken oder Mustern übertragen werden können. Jedoch sind die bisher vorgeschlagenen Vielfarben-Aufzeichnungsgeräte sehr kostenaufwendig, beanspruchen viel Platz und sind deshalb zum Gebrauch in Verbindung mit einem privaten Rechner weniger geeignet. Erfindungsgemäß ist nun eine Schreib- oder Büromaschine ähnlicher Bauart geschaffen worden, bei der auf die Aufnahmevorrichtung (19) des Typenträgerwagens (4) wahlweise eine Farbbandkassette oder ein mit farbigen Schreibstiften (95) bestückter XY-Aufzeichnungsmechanismus aufsetzbar ist, dessen Schreibstifte (95) durch die Farbbandtransportvorrichtung auswähl- und durch eine Antriebsvorrichtung aus der Rast- in die Arbeitsstellung mit dem Aufzeichnungsträger in Berührung gebracht werden. Hierdurch ist es also möglich, sowohl Volldruckzeichen als auch farbige Bilder durch einfaches Austauschen der Farbbandkassette und des Typenrades gegen den Aufzeichnungsmechanismus (85) mit farbigen Schreibstiften (95) zu erzeugen. Hierdurch ist eine einfache Schreibmaschine mit wenigen Handgriffen in einen Plotter umwandelbar.
