[origin: EP0403815A2] An inserting band (11) for profiling upholstery which is covered externally by a cover material (12), in upholstered furnishings and similar upholstered seats, consists of an integrally extruded profiled band (1) of plastic, carrying a separately produced stitch-on tab (8) for its connection to the cover material (12), and having a two-legged cross-sectional profile whose two profile legs (4) are connected to each other at their base by a narrow connecting web (5) and define a receiving gap (7) for the stitch-on tab (8), starting from the web and extending as far as the free ends (6) of the legs, in which gap the stitch-on tab is fixedly welded to the adjoining inside surfaces (3) of the two profile legs (4). <IMAGE>
