Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0404705A2] The device makes possible easy, quick and completely safe climbimg of all types of vertical supports such as trees, wooden telegraph poles or concrete poles (energy transport), masts, lamp posts and the like. It consists of two identical articulated platforms. Each of the platforms is characterised by: - the assembly of two frames of oval shape, which are closed and hollow. Inside the frame, an elastic cable pulls on a rack, the latter can be locked in working position by a bolt which pivots about a fixed point and locks the system. On the other side of the rack, the belting devices of the support, top and bottom, of each of the platforms are attached. The device makes it possible to be completely independent of the shape of the support and of its variations in diameter in the course of climbing, or in the course of descending, while offering a working platform which remains perfectly horizontal. The device, which is collapsible, robust and light, is well suited to all trades which have to work in complete safety above the ground, in particular telecommunications and energy transport representatives, pruners and hunters. <IMAGE>
