Abstract (en)
[origin: WO8908872A1] A single sheet page printer for recto-verso printing on record carriers (1) comprises a flattening device for flattening convexities in the record carrier (3) due to the effects of pressure and temperature in the fixing station (F). The smooth, flat shape of the record carrier is restored by means of a deformation in the three-dimensional region. To this end, the record carrier (3) is pulled by paper transport rolls over an edge against a pressure applied by springs and is drawn tight and straightened in the process. If the flattening device is arranged immediately after the fixing station (F), the position of the impression cylinder (2) should be offset from that of the fixing roller (1) in the direction of feed of the record carrier. By this means, in conjunction with the geometrical design of a paper guide channel (7) connected directly to the fixing gap (Z1) of the fixing device (F), the record carrier (3) is curved first in one direction and then in the opposite direction, and is therefore smoother and flatter on leaving the paper guide channel (7). The flattening device can be used to straighten record carriers (3) of a wide range of paper qualities and different grammages.
