[origin: WO8908771A1] The silencer comprises a tubular envelope (7) supported by an end-piece (10) for fixture to a gas supply source in which the pressure is to be reduced. A perforated plate (8) and a disc (9) close off the ends of the envelope which is drilled with escape apertures (13, 13', 13''...) in the region of the disc (9). According to the invention, the gas flows at sonic speed through the plate (8) to enter the envelope (7) which is completely filled with a packing (14) consisting of a tightly-wound roll of wire mesh. Said packing absorbs the shock waves developed by the supersonic flow of the gas in the packing. The latter maintains a subsonic flow with a low noise level upstream of the silencer. Application to the treatment of a surface by blasting of a gas flow.

Le silencieux comprend une enveloppe tubulaire (7) portée par un embout (10) de fixation sur une source d'alimentation en gaz sous pression à détendre. Une plaque (8) percée de trous et un disque (9) ferment les extrémités de l'enveloppe qui est percée de lumières d'échappement (13, 13', 13''...) au voisinage du disque (9). Suivant l'invention, le gaz s'écoule à vitesse sonique à travers la plaque (8) pour entrer dans l'enveloppe (7) entièrement remplie d'une garniture (14) constituée d'un rouleau serré d'un tricot de fil métallique. Cette garniture absorbe les ondes de choc développées par l'écoulement supersonique du gaz dans la garniture. Celle-ci maintient un écoulement subsonique peu bruyant à l'amont du silencieux. Application au traitement d'une surface par soufflage d'un fluide gazeux.
