[origin: WO9007182A1] The invention concerns a method of retrieving data carriers from an automatic data-carrier archive, in which the data carriers are identified by means of an externallly scannable tag carrying an external identification before they are taken out of a data-carrier store by a manipulator device. In order to improve the tolerance to errors and the error-handling capability, it is proposed that an internal identification corresponding to the external identification contained on the externally scannable tag is recorded on the data-carrier medium. After inserting the data carrier in a read/write device, the internal identification is read and compared with the external identification. The result of this comparison is used to determine the subsequent treatment of the data carrier within the archive.

Pour améliorer la tolérance d'erreur et le traitement des erreurs dans un procédé d'extraction de supports dans des archives automatiques, dans lequel les supports de données sont identifiés par l'intermédiaire d'un marquage explorable de l'extérieur et portant une caractéristique externe, avant d'être retirés d'une mémoire de supports de données au moyen d'un dispositif de manipulation, il est proposé qu'une caractéristique interne correspondant à la caractéristique externe contenue sur le marquage explorable de l'extérieur, soit enregistrée sur le matériau du support de données, cette caractéristique interne étant lue après mise en place du support de données dans un poste d'écriture et de lecture et comparée avec la caractéristique externe, et que le support de données continue d'être traité dans les archives, suivant le résultat de cette comparaison.
