Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0405125A2] The heavy phase material which is separated off from the liquid in the screw decanter is frequently interspersed with materials which contain solvent, smell strongly and/or are noxious so that said heavy phase material has to be subjected to an appropriate post-treatment in special units in order to be able subsequently to store and/or further process it without difficulty. In addition, as a result of their consistency and their low viscosity heavy phase materials of this kind can in many cases only be transported away from the screw spiral of the conveying screw with difficulty, which can have disadvantageous effects not only on the throughput of the centrifuge but also on the separating effect in the centrifuge. However, according to the invention these disadvantages can be very easily avoided by arranging openings (8,18) in the conical part (5) of the screw body (4) and/or of the screw spiral (6), which openings are connected to feedlines (9,18), which lead outwards, for the fluid media. <IMAGE>
