[origin: EP0406215A2] For treating the surface of objects, the objects in a straining basket are immersed in a treatment liquid. After part of the duration of action of the treatment liquid has elapsed, the objects to be treated are reoriented by allowing them to fall in the straining basket and at the same time the treatment liquid is agitated. For this purpose, use is made of a screening basket (3) in which an intermediate bottom (6) is provided at a distance above its bottom (5). The intermediate bottom (6) consists of two parts (7, 8) which can fold downwards and are held in their active position by pivotable supports (15). The supports (15) possess projections (17) which come up against stops (18) as the straining basket (3) is lowered, are pivoted and release the parts (7, 8) of the intermediate bottom (6) so that the latter fold downwards. <IMAGE>
