[origin: DE3900321C1] In spark plugs, the metal housing (63) is earthed (5) to the vehicle via the cylinder head (71) of the engine (7). This is inadequate with a powerful ignition spark. To improve ignition, each spark plug (31 to 34) is fitted with an additional earthing cable (41 to 44) which is attached to the housing (63) of the appropriate spark plug. These additional earthing cables (41 to 44) are connected to a common earthing cable (4) which is in turn connected to the negative terminal (12) of the battery (1).
