[origin: JPH0337307A] PURPOSE: To reduce noise and vibration by integrally-fitting two sprockets to an intermediate wheel moving together with a crankshaft and driving respective two camshafts assigned to respective cylinder banks by the respective sprockets through a chain. CONSTITUTION: This camshaft drive, which is disposed between a flywheel (not illustrated) fixed to the end surface on the driven side of a crankshaft 2 supported by the crankcase 1 of a cylinder V8-engine and an end bearing, includes a gear 7 for the intermediate wheel 8 engaged with the gear 6 of the crankshaft, and two chain drives driven by the intermediate wheel 8 to drive four camshafts 11, 12, 13, 14 assigned to both cylinder banks 9, 10. A boss sleeve 19 of the gear 7 is integrally-formed with double sprockets 16, 18 so that double sprockets 11, 12, 13, 14 fitted at respective camshafts 11, 12, 13, 14 may be driven by the double sprockets 16, 18 using double roller chain 15, 17.
