[origin: EP0406706A1] The blocking device is intended for chairs, especially office chairs, on which the seat and/or the back is/are sprung to be with inclination-adjustable relative to the chair mount and can be locked in at least one position on the mount. The device consists of two blocking members (10, 11) which are mounted pivotably on an axle by means of an adjusting member (4) and of which the blocking slots, provided with a blocking-bolt recess and corresponding in length to the maximum inclination setting, have passing through them a blocking bolt (6) located on the chair mount. According to the invention, the two blocking members (10, 11) are mounted pivotably relative to one another about the common axle (3) belonging to the seat (1) and/or to the back (2) and moveable together with the seat and/or back and are laid, in an oppositely directed manner, against the blocking bolt (6), so as to surround this, by means of a spring (5) acting on the two blocking members. The blocking slots (8, 9) of the blocking members (10, 11) have on mutually opposed slot flanks (12, 13) respective blocking noses (14, 15), of which one (15) is arranged radially higher in relation to the common axle (3) than the other (14), in such a way that, in the blocking position, the two noses (14, 15) block the blocking bolt (6). <IMAGE>
