Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0406707A1] The office chair consists of a chair mount (18) having a seat (2) and backrest (3) which are both mounted on a seat carrier (1) so as to be pivotable relative to one another in the same direction and independently of one another, the seat (2) being connected displaceably to the seat carrier (1) in the region of its front edge (2'), and an elastic tensioning element (4), which acts on the seat (2) and backrest (3) in the direction of the position of rest, being arranged on the seat carrier (1). The carrier (5) of the backrest (3) is bent level with the seat (2) and is pivotably mounted in a joint (6), under the seat (2), on the seat carrier (1) at the end of its bent part (5'). Furthermore, the seat (2) is fixedly, but rotatably, connected in its rear edge region (2') to the bent part (5') by means of a rotary joint (8) between the joint (6) of the carrier (5) and its bend (7). The tensioning element (4) designed in the form of at least one spring (4'), is braced and is arranged at an acute angle alpha to the bent part (5') or in the direction of the latter between the rotary joint (8) and the seat carrier (1). Between the rotary joint (8) and the seat carrier (1) extends, oriented essentially perpendicularly towards the seat (2), a seat and backrest adjusting lock (9) which is supported on a locking pin (17) fastened to the seat carrier (1) in the stationary manner. <IMAGE>
