[origin: JPH0343924A] PURPOSE: To prevent the damage to a peripheral part by an arc, by providing a means for fixing a first secondary contact piece to a fixed unit, making a secondary contact piece have an inherent energy source for moving the second secondary contact piece itself, and moreover giving a stroke shorter than that of a movable unit to the second secondary contact piece. CONSTITUTION: The inside of an external box includes a fixed unit containing mainly a fixed main contact piece 3 and fixed arc contact piece 5, and a movable unit containing mainly a movable main contact piece 9 and a movable arc contact piece 6. A spray nozzle 10 includes a first spray volume V1 extending toward a tip, a spray piston 14, and first and second secondary contact pieces 23 and 24 arranged in a second volume V2 and generating a secondary arc. A means is provided which is for fixing the contact piece 23 to the fixed unit, making the contact piece 24 semi-movable to the movable unit, having inherent energy for moving the contact piece 24 in circuit-opening operation of a breaker, and moreover giving a stroke shorter than that of the movable unit to the contact piece 24. Consequently, the length of the secondary arc is limited to eliminate the anxiety of destruction for a part constituting capacity.
