Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0407892A2] The invention relates to an insulation-piercing contact element (1) having thin wires, in particular with varnished wires, which has at least one further terminal element (4) for making electrical contact and is produced from a level, flat sheet-metal piece, which combat element has two longitudinal edges (6, 7) and a free transverse edge (8) on the plug side, there being provided originating from the transverse centre (9) of the transverse edge (8) an insulation-piercing contact gap (19), which extends parallel to the longitudinal edges and runs out in a hole (10), as a result of which two insulation-piercing contact limbs are produced. Originating at a distance from the transverse edge (8), in each case one notch (13), extending parallel to the transverse edge (8), is incorporated into the insulation-piercing contact limbs (11, 12) such that in each case one insulation-piercing contact blade (14), extending from the notch (13) up to the hole (10), is produced and such that the insulation-piercing contact blades (14) are bent out of the sheet-metal plane in the same sense, so that the insulation-piercing contact gap (19) of defined size is formed between the blade edges (18) of the insulation-piercing contact blades (14). <IMAGE>
