[origin: EP0408209A2] A lightweight formwork system comprises a plurality of vertically disposable main legs (10), ledger frames (12) each interconnecting and being releasably securable to adjacent pairs of main legs, horizontally spaced apart horizontally disposed primary beams (14) and horizontally spaced apart horizontally disposed secondary beams (16). The aforesaid components, together with the majority of the other components of the system, are formed of an aluminium alloy by extrusion or casting as the case may be. The ledger frames (11) are also supported relative to the main legs (10) by bracing (28) whereby the primary beams (14) may be supported directly on the ledger frames.
