[origin: EP0408824A2] A ski boot safety binding has a basic body (13) which is arranged on a swivel cam (15) so that it can swivel about a vertical axis (11) and which consists of two partial bodies which are prestressed resiliently towards one another in the direction of their longitudinal axis (14), can be pressed apart counter to the spring force along the longitudinal axis (14), and are supported from opposite sides on the swivel cam (15), which is fixed to the ski, in such a way that the partial bodies (13', 13") are increasingly resiliently pressed apart when the basic body (13) is rotated out of the normal position. Furthermore, pairs of retaining cams (16)/connecting members (17) are arranged on the partial bodies (13', 13") or the ski boot (18) so that safety release takes place both in forward and backward falls as well as in the case of excessive torsional loads. The ski boot (18) is retained on the basic body (13) against lateral displacements by fixed lateral stops (19, 20). At least some of the retaining cams (16) and/or connecting members (17) can be disengaged from the assigned connecting member (17) or retaining cam (16) respectively by lateral displacement counter to a spring force (61) which can be overcome relatively easily by means of a manual actuating lever (20). <IMAGE>
