Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0408966A2] A new electrophotographic recording material for xerography is proposed which is applied to a laminar or drum-type substrate in a layered construction, which has a photoconductive layer and in which at least the uppermost layer is formed from amorphous hydrogenated carbon. In a variant of the process, the amorphous hydrogenated carbon layer is deposited from an HF-excited low-pressure plasma with gaseous carbon as reaction gas, a self-bias DC voltage being superimposed on the high-frequency field. The a-C:H material obtained in this way is semiconducting and has photoconducting properties so that it can also be used for the photoconducting layer in electrophotographic recording material. <IMAGE>
