Zum automatisierten Auswechseln von in einem schwenkbar gelagerten Spulenhalter (20) gehaltenen Auflaufspulen (15), insbesondere Zwirnkreuzspulen, gegen Leerhülsen (18) sind erfindungsgemäß Betriebsverfahrensmaßnahmen und Einrichtungen vorgesehen, um weitgehend zeitgleich einerseits den Spulenhalter (20) zwecks Freigabe einer Auflaufspule (15) zu öffnen und andererseits die von dem Spulenhalter (20) freigegebene Auflaufspule (15) abzustützen und an eine Transporteinrichtung (16) zu übergeben, und um in den freigewordenen Spulenhalter (20) eine neue Leerhülse (18) einzusetzen.
