[origin: EP0410141A1] A clamping ring closure (15) for sheet metal containers, such as pails or buckets or the like, is provided, in which the edge of the container and the edge flange of the lid are pressed firmly against one another and in a sealing manner with interposition of a seal with the aid of a slotted clamping ring (15), specifically with the aid of a toggle lever-type closure. The circumferential ends (15a) of the clamping ring are retained securely against lateral deflection and guided by a profiled part, matched to the trapezoidal profile of the clamping ring, in the form of an elongate bridging piece (20). The clamping lever (22) is constructed and arranged in such a way that, in the closed position of the closure, it grips over and secures the bridging piece (20) from the outside over its entire length with the ends of the clamping ring (15a, 15b), accommodated therein, with tight profile matching. <IMAGE>
