Method for the pyrolytic cleaning of an oven, the muffle of which can be operated by a heating element arranged in at least one wall region and, if required, with additional recirculated-air heating, the muffle being ventilatable by an air recirculation fan and being equipped with means for pyrolytic cleaning, the heating-up phase being completed at about 500 DEG C by the heating element, which is operated at maximum power, and it then being possible to set a lower, steady oven cleaning temperature required for the pyrolytic cleaning process by means of the air recirculation fan in combination with at least one heating element, the pyrolytic cleaning process proceeding at a cleaning temperature which does not harm the enamel components of the muffle and with reduced carbon monoxide evolution. <IMAGE>

Verfahren zur pyrolytischen Selbstreinigung in einem Herd, dessen Muffel durch ein in wenigstens einem Wandbereich angeordnetes Heizelement und ggf. mit zusätzlicher Umluftheizung betreibbar ist, wobei die Muffel durch ein Umluftgebläse belüftbar und mit Mitteln zur pyrolytischen Selbstreinigung ausgerüstet ist, wobei durch das mit maximaler Leistung betriebene Heizelement die Aufheizphase bei ca. 500°C beendet ist und daß danach durch das Umluftgebläse in Kombination mit mindestens einem Heizelement eine für den pyrolytischen Selbstreinigungsvorgang notwendige untere vergleichsmäßige Backofen-Reinigungstemperatur einregelbar ist, wobei die pyrolytische Selbstreinigung bei einer für die Emailleanteile der Muffel unschädlichen Reinigungstemperatur mit reduzierter Kohlenmonoxid-Entwicklung abläuft.
