Fotografische Silberhalogenidmaterialien mit einem Gehalt an Bioziden von weniger als 5 mg/m² des unverarbeiteten Materials zeigen ökologische und sensitometrische Vorteile und werden durch Behandlung der Ausgangsmaterialien mit gasförmigen CO2 unter einem Druck von wenigstens 5 bar oder durch Behandlung der Ausgangsmaterialien in Gegenwart von Wasser mit Verbindungen der Formel RO - CO - O - CO - OR' worin R und R' niedere Alkylreste bedeuten, hergestellt.
