Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0410241A1] Aryl alkenoic acid derivatives, and physiologically acceptable salts thereof, are provided which are potent leukotriene antagonists and may be used for the treatment of circulatory diseases and preferably for respiratory diseases such as asthma. The derivatives have a general formula I <CHEM> in which X is -S-, -SO-, -SO2- or -O-; W is CH=CH or CH2-CH2; o is 1 to 5; n is 1 to 10; m is 0 to 7; T and Z, same or different, represent oxygen or a direct bond; R<2> and R<3>, same or different, represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, cyano or nitro groups; A represents carboxyl, tetrazolyl, CO2R<4>, CONR<5>R<6> or nitrile group wherein R<4> is lower alkyl and R<5> and R<6> are H, lower alkyl, alkylsulfonyl, arlysulfonyl or R5 and R6 together are an alkylene chain forming a ring; and R is <CHEM> wherein B represents carboxyl, tetrazolyl, CO2R<4>, CONR<5>R<6> or nitrile group wherein R<4> is lower alkyl and R<5> and R<6> are H, lower alkyl, alkylsulfonyl, arlysulfonyl or R5 and R6 together are an alkylene chain forming a ring; R<7> and R<8>, same or different, represent H or lower alkyl; R<9> represents -OH, -O-alkyl, NH2 or a NHCH2CO2H group; and R<1><0> is H, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, CF3, CF3O, CN or NO2.
